Story
This song is about the hyperpop/unerground genre, and how it captures the same attitude as the punk rock genre of the last generation. Our generation carries the same rebellious and excited attitude about the world as many generations before us have, and even though the world around us has changed, our hearts haven't changed much. One of the main changes we have in today's world is the internet, and although it has certianly changed the world, the desire to create has not stopped. One could even argue that it has grown exponentially.
Next I talk about making hits on the laptop. Most of the artists in this genre make music in a small, homemade, bedroom "recording studio." Most of the hits in this genre have come out of a bedroom.
"Making colorful songs like Fruity Loops" has a double meaning. Of course, I am referencing the multi-colored sugary cereal, but I am also referencing Fruity Loops Studio (or FL Studio), which is the program that most artists use in this genre to make music. I use this program as well, and as a pretty goood guitar player, a lot of people wonder why I "waste" time on the computer. They just don't get the vision!
Loud, blown out 808 basses are one of the staple sounds that makes this genre what it is. Slap on a soft clipper and let that thing ruin your mix!
We're all also very optimistic about the music we make, and we won't stop until it succeeds or kills us! This kind of music is also very experimental, so it is suprising that it has blown up in recent years! Following the same pattern as punk did in the 90's and 2000's, parents think it is annoying and teenagers adore it.
In the last verse, I use the pun "radio active, half life." This is in reference to the fact that our music is getting on the radio, but also talking about radioactive isotopes. What can I say, I like science! "The good guys are dressed like the bad guys" is a shoutout to the gothic clothing that has become popular in the genre, once again modeling punk rock. Ultimately, we're just expressing ourselves and making music because we love it!
